Chlorine is added to water as a disinfectant and at times as a water treatment device to oxidize contaminants like iron. After it has served its purpose, it is often removed for reasons of health and aesthetics.

Removing chlorine is relatively easy. Standard filter carbon remains the best tool for chlorine removal. KDF is also effective at chlorine removal, especially if chlorine is “free” and not combined with other substances (like ammonia, for example, with which chlorine is mixed to form chloramine).

Carbon filters remove chlorine readily from drinking water or from all the water entering the home. KDF combined with carbon can provide extra long-term dechlorination.
