Ultraviolet is a safe, clean, easy-to-maintain method of assuring that water is free of bacteria. It is a proven technology that has no significant drawbacks. In some applications, its initial cost is a bit more than chlorination, but because of its low operating cost, it quickly pays for itself. It is essentially trouble-free. Most systems require only an annual change of lamp — like changing a light bulb — and a change of filter cartridges if the unit has accompanying filters.

Pura systems come in various sizes, from small one gallon-per-minute undersink units for drinking water to the 15-gallon-per minute “Big Boy” series. Most of our Pura sales are in the eight-to-ten gallon-per-minute “UV 20” whole house series.

We pay shipping charges on all Pura Products. In addition, our prices are in almost every case 25% or more off the manufacturer's suggested retail price.

Replacement Filter Cartridges

One of the great advantages of Pura systems is that in every case they use standard-sized filter cartridges. This means that sediment and carbon cartridges can be replaced either with Pura brand cartridges or with the many excellent cartridges that other manufacturers offer in the same sizes.

UV001 UV008	Pura UV1-EPCB & Pura UVB1-EPCB	Standard cartridge is FC800 Pura EPCB 0.5 micron carbon block. For some applications Pura's 10 micron extended pass carbon block cartridge (FC801) is preferred. Both cartridges are available on our standard 2.5" x 9.75" filter cartridge page.
UV009	Pura UVB2-EPCB/SED	Standard cartridges are FC800, Pura EBCB 0.5 (see above), and any good quality 5-micron sediment cartridge. Suggested sediment cartridge: FC107. Available on our standard 2.5" x 9.75" cartridge page.
UV010	Pura UVB3-EPCB/GC/SD	Same cartridges as unit above, plus any good quality granular carbon or carbon block filter. Any of the carbon cartridges in the 2.5" x 9.75" section in our cartridge menu will do well. Replacement cost for the unit is around $52, depending on cartridges selected.
UV004	Pura UV20-1	Lamp only is replaced. No cartridge needed. Order #20 lamp from the list above.
UV006	Pura UV20-2/SD	One cartridge needed: Any good quality 5 micron sediment cartridge. Suggested: PW-FC256 from the 2.5" x 20" section in our cartridge menu. Approximate replacement cost is $11, with volume discount available.
UV005	Pura UV20-2/CB	One cartridge needed. A carbon block, the MatriKX CTO from the 2.5" x 20" section of our cartridge menu is excellent. Approximate cost for replacement: $28.00, with volume discount available.
UV007	Pura UV20-3/CB20/SD	Two cartridges needed. A five micron sediment and one carbon block, as described above. Both available in the 2.5" x 20" cartridge section.
